Your first stop should be eBay. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you already know that eBay is an auction site where you bid for items. It’s also a great place to find hard to find items such as, a piece of toast with a religious icon burned into it, or a clip Elvis’s sideburns. But, it’s also a great place to find inexpensive used equipment, i.e. laptops.

There are many reason why one would want to buy cheap used laptops, the main, and most obvious  reason being that a new laptop is simply too expensive. If your goal is to find a cheap used laptop, then take some time to do the research, and you will be sure to get a great deal. I will detail 5 ways you can use to locate the right used laptop that suits your needs, and price range.

Once on eBay, you can do a quick search by typing “used laptop” into the search function. You’re sure to find hundreds of selections, and name brands too. Spend some time there conducting your research. Compare prices, and look for sellers with good ratings.

Another place to find used laptops is Amazon.com. Amazon is not only a great bargain store that sells new items—you can also find used items for sale at a great price, often a lot cheaper than their respective new items. If you’ve used Amazon before, then you’ve probably seen the links “new & used.” You’ll be given the prices for the used items, as well as its condition, and the rating of the seller.

Still another stop you should make before concluding your research is Craig’s List. This website is much like a newspaper classified section in its apparent simplicity. Do a search for “used laptop” and you will find a huge selection. You can even choose by location to find something local, or you can opt to expand your search to other regions if you wish. One way to avoid being scammed this is to stick to buying locally, where you can have potential face-to-face interaction with the seller.

One more place where you can try to find cheap used laptops is Overstock.com.

You don’t have to limit your search to the Internet. You can also try doing a bit of off line research. Often times, some people will opt to sell their used computers by placing ads in the newspaper, so you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find. Try the Sunday paper since it usually has a larger classified section.

Importance of registry

Registry loads at boot time, so applications use the registry entries more quickly than use external configuration files at startup. Microsoft designed the Registry to give applications a unified place to store configuration information. However, if registry is too big, it will consume a lot of system resources. Why there are so many Registry Optimizers or cleaners exist? This is because too much garbage in the registry: application software produces garbage, Windows itself creates the registry trash ,too, e.g. Office, NET Framework, are software writing a huge number of registered information. Registry of Windows Vista has been estimated that at least twice that of Windows XP.

Firstly, you can clean up registry by yourself. Click “Run”, and type “regedit” into the text field and press “Enter”. It is separated into primary sections: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS and HKEY_CURRENT CONFIG. Click the plus to find and delete unnecessary entries in the registry.

The wrong deleting or modification in registry will lead a computer crack. Personally, I prefer the second way, i.e. download or buy a stable and safe registry optimizer and scan registry. If you know little about registry, it is highly recommended to use registry optimizer. One of my friends gets a bloated registry; she thinks that it is really useful and safe to use Wonder share Registry Optimizer to clean up registry, fix registry errors and then speed up computer.

Decrease auto-runs when boot computers

Lots applications will be added to the system startup group by themselves during the installation. And they will run automatically each time you start the system, which not only extends the start-up time, but also takes up a lot of system resources.

Load your Windows Registry, you can click Start, Run and then input regedit. Now you have launched your registry, you can do some modification with your registry. For example, if you want to disable the startup Print program, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run, find the right key and disable it.

Sony Vaio Series

Sony Vaio Series

After the buzz with Sony VAIO P Series, Sony has come up with another new notebook series. The VAIO NW Series, is the series that push the “Gracefully thin” to the edge of their marketing. According to Sony the NW series are designed to be ‘gracefully thin’, they measure in at 1.2 inches thick. With a thickness of 1.2-inches, Sony VAIO NW is definitely not as thin as Sony’s thinnest laptop, VAIO X Series, but it is fairly thin for an entry level, full-fledged notebook.

The first thing you’ll notice about the 14.6 x 9.8 x 1.2-inch, Walnut Brown VAIO NW is the cool faux-wood design on the lid, which extends to the base of the system. If you’re not keen on this look, Sony also offers the system in Birch White and Silver Rattan. Owing to the NW’s “waved body” design, the keyboard resides in a slight depression, but it didn’t negatively impact our typing.

Apart from the Rosy Brown, Sony VAIO NW is also available in Shimmering White and Black. The textured, wavy plastic lid and base resists fingerprints better than the glossy finishes that other Sony laptops have. But other problem arises. The textured surface traps dusts and specks much more easily than the glossy surfaces.

The contours of the VAIO NW are soft and the footprint is smaller compared to other models with the same screen size, making this notebook computer compact and easy to carry. Initially available in two colors, silver and brown, the tone is gentle and harmonious with the home environment.

We would have liked to see dedicated volume controls, but it’s easy enough to adjust with function keys. At 5.6 pounds, the VAIO NW isn’t a system you’ll want to constantly keep in tow, but it’s certainly light enough to easily move from room to room.

It meets the latest industry energy efficiency standard, ENERGY STAR® 5.0, and its construction is carefully thought through to keep the amount of waste low by using both recycled and recyclable material in the body and packaging. The VAIO NW11-series has an impressive storage capacity of up to 500GB, making it ideal for multimedia, and has 4GB memory, allowing rapid file access and easy multi-tasking. Its 15.5” true 16:9 widescreen is stunning with Sony’s X-black LCD, which delivers vibrant colors and crystal sharp details.
